A US-based Indian-origin entrepreneur has appealed for help through social media, alleging that his 64-year-old father is being targeted in a property-grabbing attempt in Varanasi. Ayush Jaiswal, co-founder and CEO of Pesto Tech, accused a relative of illegal occupation and harassment, while claiming inadequate response from local authorities.
"I'm in the US right now, and it's so painful to see my father suffer with thugs trying to take up his property with police literally looking the other way," Jaiswal wrote on X (formerly Twitter). The incident revolves around a shop owned by Jaiswal’s father, located in the Maldahiya area, a busy commercial hub in Varanasi.
According to Jaiswal, a former employee—now identified as a relative—broke into the premises, replaced the locks, and was threatening other family members. Jaiswal alleged that the individual, armed with a gun, has been making indirect threats for some time.

FIR registered as post goes viral
Jaiswal said a formal complaint was submitted to the police on Nov. 24, 2024, warning of potential threats to his father’s safety and property. Despite this, he alleged that law enforcement initially failed to take action.
However, following his widely shared social media post, the Uttar Pradesh Police confirmed the registration of a First Information Report (FIR).
“This is a property-related family dispute between the complainant and his sister’s son. An FIR has been registered, and an investigation has started. Action will be taken based on merit,” the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) for Kashi Zone stated via their official X account.
While thanking the police for registering the FIR, Jaiswal reiterated his concerns. "This person has been constantly trying to extort money and harassing my father. I have recordings of him cornering and threatening him," he wrote.

An urgent plea for assistance
In his post, Jaiswal described his father’s vulnerability as a senior citizen living alone, with most of the family abroad. “This is a cry for help! I have all the documentation and proof of no wrongdoing, but instead, my father is being harassed,” he said.
The entrepreneur also highlighted broader concerns, adding, “We’ve been so happy to see the positive changes in Varanasi over the years, but these hooligans should have no place.”
The incident has drawn widespread attention, with numerous social media users urging authorities to intervene and ensure justice.
