Indian-origin executive Ravi Ahuja appointed CEO of Sony Pictures
Ahuja, currently the chief operating officer of the Hollywood studio, will officially assume his new position on Jan. 2, 2025.

Indian-origin executive Ravi Ahuja has been named the next CEO of Sony Pictures Entertainment, replacing Tony Vinciquerra, who will step down from the role. Ahuja, currently the chief operating officer of the Hollywood studio, will officially assume his new position on Jan. 2, 2025.
This leadership transition adds Ahuja to the growing ranks of Indian-American executives at the helm of major multinational corporations. Vinciquerra will continue to serve as non-executive chairman until Dec. 2025, while Ahuja will report to Sony Corporation's chairman, Kenichiro Yoshida.
Ahuja’s elevation follows a long-standing professional partnership with Vinciquerra, whom he has worked closely with since 2007 when they both served at Fox Networks. After joining Sony Pictures in 2021, Ahuja took on additional responsibilities, including overseeing the India business as chairman of Global Television Studios.
He was also instrumental in the now-canceled merger of Sony Pictures India with Zee Entertainment Enterprises, which aimed to expand Sony's reach in the South Asian market.
Despite the merger setback, Ahuja successfully led several acquisitions for Sony Pictures, including Industrial Media, Bad Wolf, and Pixomondo. With an MBA from the University of Pennsylvania, Ahuja previously held key roles at Walt Disney Television, where he played a pivotal part in the merger of Disney/ABC Television and Fox Networks following Disney's acquisition of Fox in 2019.
Expressing his enthusiasm for the new role, Ahuja said, "It is my privilege to take the helm at Sony Pictures. This is a special place—an iconic studio with an extraordinary 100-year history of storytelling. I am grateful for Tony's mentorship, guidance, and friendship through the decades."
Sony Corporation chairman Kenichiro Yoshida praised Ahuja’s leadership, stating, "Since joining Sony Pictures, Ravi has been at the center of Tony's leadership team, navigating the unprecedented challenges of today's media and entertainment environment and positioning the studio for further growth. Ravi brings with him years of experience."
