Krish Raval, a London-based professional of Indian origin, has been nominated for a life peerage in the House of Lords by British Prime Minister Keir Starmer. This nomination is part of a broader initiative to balance political representation in the Upper House, where the Conservative Party currently holds the majority.
Raval’s commitment to inter-faith cohesion was recognized in 2018 when he received the Officer of the Order (OBE) from Queen Elizabeth II. He was honored for his services to leadership education and inter-faith work.
He is the founder and director of Faith in Leadership, an organization based at the University of Oxford. The organization focuses on fostering inter-faith relations. His nomination for a life peerage acknowledges his significant contributions to leadership and community cohesion.
As part of the Prime Minister’s recommendations, Raval, along with 29 other individuals, will be granted life peerages, allowing them to take a seat in the House of Lords. Once approved, Raval is expected to join the Labour benches, where he will bring his expertise in inter-faith relations and leadership development to the legislative process.
Born in Ethiopia to Indian parents, Raval pursued law at Trinity Hall, Cambridge, and the University of Sheffield. He is a devout Hindu and has been an active member of the City Sikhs Advisory Board, the UK's largest network of Sikhs.
In 2007, Raval founded Faith in Leadership, an organization based at the University of Oxford dedicated to fostering inter-faith relations and leadership development among diverse faith communities.
Raval serves as the chair of the Labour Party's diaspora group, Labour Indians, and has been instrumental in promoting community cohesion and diversity within the party.
