A 22-year-old Indian-origin man from Brampton, Canada, has been arrested and charged in connection with the sexual assault of three women earlier this month. Peel Regional Police identified the suspect as Arshdeep Singh, who is accused of kidnapping, sexual assault, sexual assault with a weapon, sexual assault by strangulation, robbery, and uttering threats.

The incidents occurred on November 8 and November 16, 2024, in the Brampton and Vaughan areas. Singh allegedly pretended to be a rideshare driver in all three cases, targeting women waiting at bus stops and luring them into his black four-door sedan.

The first attack took place on the morning of November 8 near Countryside Drive and Bramalea Road in Brampton. Singh reportedly offered a ride to the victim, drove her to a remote area near Highway 27 and Nashville Road in Vaughan, and then assaulted her. Less than an hour later, a second woman was approached near Goreridge Crescent and Via Romano Way in Brampton. She was driven to a secluded spot near Highway 50 and Gore Road, where she was also assaulted.

A third assault occurred on November 16 near Airport Road and Humberwest Parkway in Brampton. The victim accepted a ride from a man in a newer model sedan, who then drove her to a location on Countryside Drive and assaulted her.

Arrest Made After Linguistic Clue

Peel Police linked the three incidents to a single suspect after survivors reported similar patterns of behavior. Investigators noted that the suspect spoke Punjabi to the victims during the assaults, which provided a critical lead in identifying Singh.

Singh was arrested and charged following a detailed investigation. Police believe the same individual carried out all three attacks, citing the consistency of the suspect’s methods and vehicle description.

After his arrest, Singh appeared in the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton for a bail hearing. Authorities have not disclosed whether he has retained legal counsel.

The case has raised concerns about safety in the Brampton and Vaughan areas, especially for individuals relying on public transportation. Police have urged the public to remain cautious and verify the identity of any rideshare driver before accepting a ride.

Peel Police are continuing their investigation and have encouraged anyone with additional information or who may have been approached by Singh to come forward.
