Indian-origin women honored at NYC consulate event

Three distinguished Indian-origin women were honored for their exceptional contributions in finance, entrepreneurship, and media at a special event organized by the Consulate General of India in New York, in collaboration with the Federation of Indian Associations (FIA).
The honorees included Anu Aiyengar, global head of Advisory and Mergers & Acquisitions at JP Morgan; Anjula Acharia, CEO and founder of A-Series Management and Investments; and Seema Mody, reporter and anchor at CNBC. They were celebrated for their leadership and impact in their respective fields, as well as their role in empowering women globally.
The recognition took place during FIA's 7th Annual International Women’s Day celebration, with Union Minister of Women and Child Development Annapurna Devi attending as the chief guest.

Minister Annapurna Devi praised the awardees, acknowledging their efforts in strengthening India-US relations and advancing opportunities for women worldwide.
The honorees
Anjula Acharia, CEO and founder of A-Series Investments and Management, has played a pivotal role in supporting female-led startups, including Bumble and ClassPass. She co-founded Desi Hits! in 2006, a platform that introduced South Asian culture to global audiences.
Born in Kerala, Anu Aiyengar moved to the US as a teenager and joined JP Morgan in 1999. She steadily rose through the ranks and made history in 2020 when she became the global head of Advisory and Mergers & Acquisitions, the first woman and person of color to hold the position.
Seema Mody, a CNBC journalist, has been a leading voice in global markets and technology. She began her career at CNBC-TV18 in Mumbai, where she covered India’s economic growth, before moving to the US to report on technology and IPO markets.
