Indian student killed by stray bullet in Canada
Harsimrat Randhawa was waiting at a bus stop on her way to work when the shots were fired by a car occupant, the police said.

Harsimrat Randhawa, a student from India at Mohawk College, died after she was hit by a stray bullet in a shooting in Hamilton, Canada, on Apr. 17. The 21-year-old was standing at a bus stop, on her way to work, when the incident occurred.
In a statement, Hamilton police said gunfire erupted near Upper James Street and South Bend Road. It highlighted that officer found her at the scene with a gunshot wound to the chest. “Paramedics took her to the hospital where she was later pronounced dead.”
The police said that investigators reviewed a video and determined that a passenger, in a black Mercedes SUV, fired at people in a white sedan. There have also been reports of gunshots going through the rear window of a home on Allbeny Avenue where people were watching television. No one was injured in the home.

Mohawk College, in a statement on Apr. 18, said they were deeply saddened about Randhawa’s death. “Our thoughts are with her family and friends at this difficult time. As a member of the Mohawk College community, we know this loss is being felt by many and we will do everything we can to support Harsimrat's friends, family and the broader college community.”
