Hours before his inauguration on Jan.20, Indiaspora has congratulated Donald Trump on starting a second term as the 47th President of the United States. In a statement, Indiaspora also emphasized the continued strengthening of India-US collaboration under the incoming Trump 2.0 administration.
The Trump 2.0 administration has highlighted the growing influence of Indian-Americans, with key appointments in civil rights, national security, and technology.
Indiaspora has extended its congratulations to the distinguished individuals recognized for their significant contributions: Harmeet Kaur Dhillon (appointed Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights), Vivek Ramaswamy (to co-lead DOGE), Kash Patel (appointed as FBI director), Dr. Jay Bhattacharya (to lead National Institute of Health), and Sriram Krishnan (appointed as Senior Policy Advisor for Artificial Intelligence).
In a statement released on Jan.19, Indiaspora said: “We are proud to see the increasing political engagement of the Indian-American community and celebrate the influential voices that are shaping American politics today.”
Founder and chairman of Indiaspora, MR Rangaswami, said he expects the US-India relations to continue flourishing under the Trump regime.
“On behalf of the Indiaspora and the Indian-American community, I’d like to congratulate President Trump as the 47th President of the United States. I expect US-India relations to continue flourishing amidst this new political climate in America. The senior government officials on both sides have established strong relationships during President Trump’s first term, and there is strong bipartisan support in the United States to further this important bilateral relationship,” shared MR Rangaswami.
Founded in 2012, Indiaspora is a non-partisan organization run by a community of influential global Indian leaders from diverse fields, dedicated to inspiring the diaspora to create a positive impact. The platform fosters collaboration, engagement, and social change across the Indian-American community.
Sanjeev Joshipura, Indiaspora’s executive director, added, “Two of Indiaspora’s key focus areas over the years have been our efforts to increase the Indian diaspora’s civic and political engagement in a nonpartisan manner and to strengthen US-India ties.”
Joshipura further mentioned, “It is heartening to see every successive American administration, regardless of political party, place Indian-Americans in senior roles in government, and the incoming Trump administration has continued this trend. Furthermore, Indiaspora is poised to continue playing a role in catalyzing bilateral dialogues, just as we did in New Delhi and Houston during the previous Trump administration.”
