Indiaspora welcomes Sunder Ramaswamy as newest ambassador

Indiaspora announced the addition of Sunder Ramaswamy, a professional economist, as its newest ambassador. 

Indiaspora is a nonprofit organization which aims to inspire the Indian diaspora and serve as a positive force by providing a platform for collaboration and promoting community engagement.

Ramaswamy is an educator and academic administrator with extensive experience in both India and the United States. He has co-authored and co-edited four books, written numerous articles, and delivered over 175 lectures worldwide on topics such as globalization, economic development, Indian economic reforms, and economic literacy. 

His research has received support from the Ford Foundation, SW Davis Foundation, etc.. Additionally, he has worked as a consultant for organizations like the World Bank. Ramaswamy has also served on the boards of numerous non-profit organizations and was recently appointed Chairman Emeritus of The Asia Foundation.

Ramaswamy has been a faculty member and administrator at Middlebury College since 1990. He has also taken sabbaticals at the World Bank, Vanderbilt University, IFMR, and the Madras School of Economics in India, where he served as director on two occasions. 

He was the founding vice chancellor of Krea University, a new liberal arts and sciences university initiative in India.

Ramaswamy currently serves as the program director for International & Global Studies at Middlebury College and is a member of the President’s Task Force on “Middlebury’s Approach to AI.” He is also working on a co-authored book manuscript titled "Data Democracy and Development in India."

He has been featured in over 60 international media stories and has received numerous honors and awards in both India and the United States for his dedication to teaching, academic work, and administrative achievements.
