‘International talent will not come to US’: SABA on Trump’s birthright citizenship order

The South Asian Bar Association of North America (SABA North America) has argued against President Donald J Trump’s executive order limiting birthright citizenship, warning that it could deter international talent from coming to the United States. The organization issued a detailed statement on Jan. 29, highlighting the potential impact of several other executive orders on South Asian immigrants and the broader legal implications.
On the first day of assuming office, Trump announced immigration executive orders, aimed at overhauling the US immigration system by enforcing stricter policies, limiting legal immigration, restricting humanitarian protections, and increasing scrutiny of non-citizens.
“Over the last week, we have been researching the orders to understand their scope and impact, listening closely to the concerns of our members and the broader South Asian community, and identifying tools and resources to amplify our voice and address questions,” SABA said in a statement.
