Jayden Doshi, a student at Paul D. Schreiber High School in Port Washington, New York, has been named as a finalist in the prestigious National Merit $2500 Scholarship Program. This honor is a testament to his outstanding academic performance, exceptional SAT scores, and active participation in extracurricular activities.
Schreiber High School celebrated this achievement in a social media post, congratulating Doshi along with fellow students Julian Kimball, Austin Li, Ezra Schulmiller, and Brigid Southard, who were also named finalists for the award.
The school expressed pride in their accomplishments and stated on Instagram, "Schreiber High School students have been named Finalists in the prestigious 2025 National Merit Scholarship Program academic competition. CONGRATULATIONS to Jayden Doshi, Julian Kimball, Austin Li, Ezra Schulmiller, and Brigid Southard! This high achievement recognizes academic success, outstanding SAT scores, and involvement in extracurricular activities. Previously, in September 2024, Doshi was recognized as a semifinalist, an achievement granted to less than one percent of U.S. high school seniors. Additionally, Doshi has consistently demonstrated academic excellence, earning placement on the Principal's Honor Roll during the second quarter of the 2022-2023 school year.
The National Merit Scholarship Program is a prestigious academic competition in the United States that identifies and honors high-achieving high school seniors. The selection process begins with the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT), taken by over 1.6 million students annually.
Of these, approximately 16,000 students are named semifinalists, representing less than one percent of U.S. high school seniors. To advance to finalist standing, semifinalists must submit a detailed scholarship application, maintain an outstanding academic record, write an essay, and demonstrate participation in school and community activities.
The National Merit Scholarship winners will be announced on May.7.
