J.D. Jayaraman named interim dean of NJCU School of Business

New Jersey City University (NJCU) has appointed Jayadhurganandh Jayaraman as the interim dean of its School of Business. Jayaraman, who previously served as chair of the NJCU department of finance, brings a wealth of academic and industry experience to the role. 

Jayaraman has played a key role in shaping innovative programs at NJCU, particularly in the areas of business analytics, data science, and financial technology. His research interests span financial literacy, AI applications for social good, and the use of machine learning in finance. 

Before transitioning to academia, Jayaraman spent over 20 years in the financial services sector, where he held leadership positions at Bloomberg L.P., Citigroup, and other financial technology firms. His industry experience includes expertise in algorithmic trading, risk management, and quantitative modeling.

Donna Adair Breault, NJCU’s interim provost, expressed confidence in Jayaraman’s leadership. “Throughout his academic career at NJCU he has been a thoughtful and creative leader and his diverse professional and academic experience will serve our students and faculty well,” she said.

Jayaraman, in response to his appointment, stated, “I am deeply honored to serve as the interim dean of the School of Business at NJCU. My primary goal is to foster an enriching and inclusive environment that enhances the educational journey of our diverse student body.”

Jayaram’s academic background includes includes a Ph.D. in finance from Oklahoma State University, additional graduate degrees in educational psychology and cognitive science from Columbia University, a Masters of Business Administration degree from Bharathidasan Institute of Management, and a B.E degree from the College of Engineering Guindy, Anna University, India.
