Mamta Kulkarni, a prominent Bollywood actress from the 1990s, has officially embraced spirituality, marking a significant transformation in her life.

On Jan. 24, during the Maha Kumbh at the Sangam in Prayagraj, Kulkarni took 'sanyas' and performed the ritual of 'Pind Daan,' signifying her renunciation of worldly ties.

Kulkarni was welcomed into the Kinnar Akhara, a Hindu religious order established by the eunuch community under the Juna Akhara. In a traditional coronation ceremony, she was given the title of Mahamandaleshwar, a significant spiritual position, and was bestowed with the name 'Shri Yamai Mamta Nand Giri.'

A video circulating on social media shows Kulkarni, clad in saffron robes and a Rudraksh garland, alongside fellow sanyasis. It captures her emotional return to India after 25 years.

Kulkarni revealed in an earlier interview that she had left India and Bollywood in 1996 to follow a spiritual calling, inspired by Guru Gagan Giri Maharaj. She described her journey as one of "12 years of penance and celibacy in Dubai," culminating in this pivotal moment.

Kaushalya Nand Giri, also known as Tina Maa, another Mahamandaleshwar of Kinnar Akhara, confirmed that Kulkarni performed her 'Pind Daan' at the confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and Saraswati rivers.

Mamta Kulkarni, best known for her roles in films like Karan Arjun and Aashiq Awara, left Bollywood at the height of her career. Her return to the public eye as a spiritual leader has intrigued her fans and the wider audience.
