Many New Years, One Heritage: A Bay Area childhood through Indian celebrations

Growing up in the Bay Area, I could see the many faces of India as I walked through the halls of my school. My South Indian friends, whose homes I would be invited to for Golus, my Punjabi teammates in soccer, and my Gujarati schoolmates who would teach me how to dance at our school garba, each carrying their traditions, their version of New Year's celebrations.
