Indian American real estate developer and film producer Anita Verma-Lallian has confirmed that the Pacific Palisades home of the late FRIENDS actor Matthew Perry, which she purchased last year, has been spared from the devastating Los Angeles wildfires.
"We want to express our deepest gratitude to the brave firefighters, our amazing neighbors, and the entire Palisades community for their help, strength, and support during this heartbreaking time," Verma-Lallian wrote in an Instagram post on Jan.10.
Verma-Lallian acquired the Los Angeles property in 2024 for $8.55 million, a year after Perry's sudden death. The property, built in 1965, sits on 0.4 acres and spans 3,500 square feet. Perry had purchased it in 2020 for $6 million and made several renovations, including a distinctive Batman logo in the pool.
During the wildfires, realtor Brooke Elliott Laurinkus helped monitor and protect the property. Verma-Lallian thanked Laurinkus for "keeping us updated on everything happening" and noted that she would "also be assisting anyone in need of a temporary home during this time."
Encouraging support for first responders, Verma-Lallian urged her followers to consider donating to the Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation. "Our thoughts remain with everyone affected by this tragedy, and we hope we can come together to heal, protect, and rebuild what's been lost," she wrote, emphasizing that "the Palisades will always hold a special place in our hearts."
Verma-Lallian initially revealed her purchase of Perry's former home in an Instagram post on Oct. 31, 2024, stating her intention to use it as a vacation home for her family. In the announcement, she expressed a desire to honor the positive aspects of Perry's life.
"We chose to honour the positive aspects of the previous owner's life, his immense talent, and all the joy he brought to so many people," she wrote. "The decision to purchase the home had nothing to do with the previous owner, just our love of the home."
Verma-Lallian had also shared images and videos of the property on her social media, documenting a traditional Hindu 'puja' ceremony that she and her family performed before moving in. In her Instagram post, she expressed excitement over the purchase and described the immediate connection she felt with the house.
“The moment I walked into the home, I absolutely fell in love with the features, especially the view of the Pacific Ocean,” she wrote. “We knew it was ‘the one’ and decided to write an offer on it immediately.”
