Netflix has announced its latest collaboration with Indian filmmaker Imtiaz Ali, O Saathi Re, a romantic drama exploring love and relationships in contemporary times.
The series features Aditi Rao Hydari, Avinash Tiwary, and Arjun Rampal in lead roles. Imtiaz Ali serves as the creator, writer, and showrunner, while Arif Ali, known for directing Netflix’s She, will helm the project. Ali, along with Mohit Choudhary, is also attached as an executive producer.
Speaking about the series, Imtiaz Ali said, "O Saathi Re surprised me at every turn of its development. It is a modern story with a vintage heart, an enchanted fairy tale set in the fiasco of metropolitan life." He also expressed confidence in director Arif Ali and the lead cast.
Tanya Bami, series head at Netflix India, described the project as “a fresh and innovative take on relationships in contemporary times.” She added, "After the success of She Season 2, we began exploring ideas for our next series together. We wanted something with an inherent musicality, perhaps inspired by a song, and then Imtiaz crafted a story, called it O Saathi Re, and that story moved us as profoundly as the song still does."
The series is produced by Window Seat Films and Reliance Entertainment, marking Ali’s continued partnership with the streaming platform following the success of Diljit Dosanjh-starrer film, Amar Singh Chamkila.
The series marks a return to Netflix for its lead actors. Hydari was last seen in Heeramandi, Tiwary in Sikandar Ka Muqaddar, and Rampal in Rana Naidu Season 2. The cast recently participated in a table read ahead of production, which is set to begin by the end of the month.
Netflix has yet to announce a release date for O Saathi Re.
