Ontario Cricket-Ed forum inspires youth

Ontario Schools Cricket Association hosted its second annual Cricket-Ed Forum, celebrating young cricketers and promoting financial literacy, mental wellness, and STEMM education.

The Ontario Schools Cricket Association (OSCA) hosted the second annual OSCA Cricket-Ed Forum 2025 at the Save Max Sports Centre, Brampton, Canada.

The event brought together young cricketers, families, and community leaders for a day of recognition, education, and empowerment. It celebrated student participants of OSCA’s Winter 2025 Recreational Cricket Program awarding them OSCA School Cricket Excellence Medals.

The forum highlighted OSCA’s commitment to youth development by integrating cricket with financial literacy, mental wellness, and STEMM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, and Medicine) learning opportunities.

Ontario Premier Doug Ford, patron of OSCA,  commended OSCA for its positive impact on youth, stating, “This program has grown into an inspiring success story, strengthening community ties and providing young people with valuable opportunities to develop on and off the field.”

Brampton Mayor Patrick Brown also praised the initiative, emphasizing the city’s continued investment in cricket. “We’ve made significant investments in cricket for Brampton and there’s more to come. I extend my heartfelt congratulations to the players, coaches, and supporters who are helping foster young talent and sportsmanship across our province.”

The event also featured an interactive financial literacy session led by TD Bank, a cybersecurity awareness session by Rogers Cybersecure Catalyst, and mental health discussions facilitated by CMHA Peel Dufferin. Students also participated in STEMM activities by LOTUS STEMM.

Notable attendees included Raman Dua, CEO of Save Max Group, and Jaspreet Nagpal, Save Max executive, who joined students in celebrating their achievements. Kathy McDonald, PDSB trustee and OSCA board member, along with Vinod Sharma, OSCA School cricket coordinator, welcomed guests.
