OpenAI CEO Sam Altman endorsed a smart crib created by an Indian- American startup, saying he and his partner Oliver Mulherin have been using it for their newborn son.
The crib designed by Cradlewise, co-founded in 2016 by Radhika Patil and her husband Bharath Patil, enhances infant sleep by detecting early signs of wakefulness and soothing the baby back to sleep using gentle motion and sound.
In a post on social media platform X, Altman shared insights into new parenthood, and praised Cradlewise, saying, "We bought a lot of silly baby things that we haven't needed but definitely I recommend a Cradlewise crib and a lot more burp rags than you think you could possibly need."

The post drew attention across parenting and tech circles. Cradlewise responded with a post writing, “Our all-in-one smart crib is the smarter choice – Sam said it, not us! (okay… maybe us too).”
The smart crib features an integrated baby monitor, AI-driven sleep tracking, and can be used from infancy up to two years, converting from a bassinet to a crib. It retails for $1,999 in the United States and has been recognized for its innovative approach to infant sleep, including being named among TIME's Best Inventions of 2020.
Responding to Altman's endorsement, Cradlewise CEO Radhika Patil expressed gratitude, stating, "Thanks for loving us Sam Altman. The AI god’s trust in the smarts of Cradlewise means a lot to us. Wishing you all more”
Radhika Patil, who currently resides in the US, holds a master’s degree in electronic design from the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru, and a bachelor's degree from Stanford University. Before founding Cradlewise, she worked as a researcher at Hewlett-Packard and has been recognized for combining deep-tech expertise with user-focused product design.
