Padma Awards 2025 announced: Arijit Singh, R Ashwin among entertainment honorees
This year's Padma awards include seven Padma Vibhushan, 19 Padma Bhushan, and 113 Padma Shri awardees, celebrating distinguished service across various fields.

The 2025 Padma Awards, one of India’s highest civilian honors, recognized 139 individuals for their contributions to various fields, including cinema, sports, arts, and social work.
The awards, which rank among India's highest civilian honours, were conferred in three categories: Padma Vibhushan being the highest followed by Padma Bhushan and the Padma Shri.
This year's Padma awards include seven Padma Vibhushan, 19 Padma Bhushan, and 113 Padma Shri awardees, celebrating distinguished service across various fields.
The Padma Vibhushan, India's second-highest civilian award, was posthumously awarded to eminent Malayalam writer MT Vasudevan Nair, who passed away in December 2024, and folk singer Sharda Sinha, recognized for her contributions to folk music.
Here is everyone who received the award from the world of music and entertainment:
CINEMA
In the realm of cinema and theatre, the Padma Bhushan was conferred upon Kannada actor Anant Nag, Telugu filmmaker Nandamuri Balakrishna, Tamil actor Ajith Kumar, and filmmaker Shekhar Kapur. Comedian and film and stage actor Ashok Laxman Saraf and Mamata Shankar were among the Padma Shri awardees, alongside English born- Indian acting coach and theatre director Barry Godfray John
MUSIC
Grammy-winning composer Ricky Kej, singers Arijit Singh, Jaspinder Narula, and Bheru Singh Chouhan, as well as classical musicians like K Omanakutty Amma and Ashwini Bhide-Deshpande were honoured with the Padma Shri.
The Padma Bhushan was posthumously awarded to celebrated singer Pankaj Udhas for his unparalleled contribution to Indian music. Folk musicians such as Joynacharan Bathari, Mahabir Nayak, and devotional singer Harjinder Singh Srinagar Wale were also recognized for their contributions.
SPORTS
In the realm of sports, former men's hockey captain PR Sreejesh and cricketer Ravichandran Ashwin, para archer Harvinder Singh, and former footballer I.M. Vijayan were among the Padma Shri awardees.
