Modi and Trump are scheduled to meet at the White House on Feb.13 at 4:00 PM EST (2:30 AM IST on Feb.14). The discussions are expected to cover key issues, including trade disputes, import tariffs, and defense collaborations.
Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri emphasized the significance of the visit, highlighting the strong bilateral ties between the two nations. "The fact that the Prime Minister has been invited to visit the US within barely three weeks of the new administration taking office shows the importance of the India-US partnership and is also reflective of the bipartisan support this partnership enjoys in the US," Misri said.
India has been advocating for lower tariffs on its exports, while the US is looking to expand its sales of energy and military equipment to India.
Additionally, the leaders will address Indo-Pacific security, counterterrorism efforts, and investment partnerships. The meeting will be followed by a private dinner hosted by President Trump. Both leaders are also expected to address the media in the Oval Office before or after their discussions.
