India has strongly condemned a breach at the Bangladesh Assistant High Commission in Agartala, Tripura, during a protest rally on Dec. 2.
The incident occurred when over 50 protesters, demonstrating against the arrest of Hindu monk Chinmoy Krishna Das and recent attacks on Hindus in Bangladesh, allegedly entered the mission's premises.
The Ministry of External Affairs expressed regret over the breach and reiterated that diplomatic and consular properties should never be targeted.
The MEA issued a statement on the same day, “The incident earlier today of the breach of premises at the Bangladesh Assistant High Commission in Agartala is deeply regrettable.”
“Diplomatic and consular properties should not be targeted under any circumstances. The government is taking action to step up security arrangements for the Bangladesh High Commission in New Delhi and their Deputy/Assistant High Commissions in the country,” also mentioned in the statement on breach of premises at the Bangladesh Assistant High Commission, Agartala.
