The University of Alberta will award honorary Doctor of Laws degrees to Radhe and Krishna Gupta during its spring convocation. The honor recognizes the couple’s contributions to community development and philanthropy.
Originally from India, the couple co-founded Rohit Group in 1986, based in Edmonton, transforming it from a small home-building enterprise into a national real estate company involved in residential rentals, health infrastructure, land development, and commercial projects.

Beyond their success in business, the Guptas are being recognized for their unwavering commitment to community service both in Alberta and abroad. They have championed numerous charitable causes through major donations to organizations such as Habitat for Humanity, WIN House, Stollery Children’s Hospital, and the Mental Health Foundation.
Their annual “Baskets of Hope” fundraiser supports survivors of domestic violence, and their partnership with the City of Edmonton’s First Place Program has made affordable housing more accessible for first-time buyers.
Internationally, their philanthropy has extended to Radhe’s hometown of Joura, India, where they have funded the construction of a hospital, a school, and a cemetery.
The Guptas are amongst 5 individuals to be recognized by the University this year..
