Hundreds of community members gathered in Fremont on Apr.5 to participate in the vibrant Shri Ram Lalla Car Rally, held in honor of Ram Navami, a Hindu festival celebrating the birth of Lord Rama.
Starting at 4:00 p.m. from the Mission Blvd Park & Ride, the rally saw a colorful procession of vehicles adorned with saffron flags, posters, and cutouts of Lord Ram, creating a festive atmosphere across the streets.
Many participants wore traditional Indian attire, and several vehicles were decorated with flowers, bells, and devotional music systems playing bhajans and chants dedicated to Lord Ram.
Volunteers guided the procession with remarkable coordination, while enthusiastic devotees chanted slogans like “Jai Shri Ram,” waved flags, and distributed sweets. Children could be seen excitedly waving from car windows, while elders shared blessings and stories of the epic Ramayana. The entire event was marked by an air of spiritual celebration and cultural pride.
The rally concluded at the Vedic Dharma Samaj Fremont Hindu Temple, where a special Sita-Ram Kalyanam (divine wedding ceremony) and pratibhoj (community meal) were held later in the evening.
“We are here celebrating Bhagwan Ram ka Janam Din,” said Ashish Khurana, a participant at the rally. “Today is Ram Navami and there is so much excitement all over. All Hindu organizations are coming together and we are going to take this car rally to the local temple here in Fremont and we are going to do a big celebration there.”
