Ramakrishna Podila named Royal Society of Chemistry fellow

Clemson University associate professor Ramakrishna Podila has been named a fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry recognizing his significant contributions to the field.
The Royal Society of Chemistry, based in the United Kingdom, is a global professional body with over 50,000 members. The title of Fellow is awarded to those who have made outstanding advancements in fields like materials chemistry and physics.
Podila’s interdisciplinary research spans physics, chemistry, biology, and materials science, focusing on energy conversion, nano-bio interfaces, and photonics. He is currently exploring new areas in quantum mechanics and quantum biology.
His work has been backed by major organizations such as NASA, the National Science Foundation, and the National Institutes of Health.
“I am deeply honored to be admitted as a fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry. This recognition is a testament to the hard work and dedication of my students, collaborators, and mentors,” Podila said. “I am committed to continuing our efforts to contribute to the nanomaterials community.”
With over 100 publications and two U.S. patents, Podila’s research has gained widespread recognition, including a materials chemistry article listed in the top 1 percent by Web of Science.
Podila earned his Ph.D. from Clemson in 2011 and has been on the faculty since 2015. He received his Master of Science in Physics from the Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee, in 2007
