Congressman Ro Khanna, who represents California's 17th District, has officially endorsed Raj Salwan in his bid for Mayor of Fremont, California, highlighting a longstanding personal and professional relationship.

"I’ve known Raj Salwan for over 20 years, but Fremont has known him his whole life," said Khanna. "He has served tirelessly as a community volunteer long before holding office—he's here to serve. He has my full support."

Raj Salwan, a current city council member, expressed his gratitude for Khanna's endorsement. "I am proud to receive the endorsement of Congressman Ro Khanna for my campaign for Fremont Mayor," said Salwan. "Our work together on Fremont's public WiFi, homeless navigation center, and transportation funding has been a boost to Fremont's infrastructure for many years to come."

Salwan, a licensed veterinarian, has served on Fremont’s city council for over a decade: he was appointed to his first term in 2013. The candidate, who grew up in Fremont, has also served on his home town’s Human Relations Commission, the Planning Commission, and twice as Vice Mayor.

He is being challenged for the mayoral seat by fellow city council member Vinnie Bacon. Salwan's campaign emphasizes his proven track record of effective leadership, particularly in areas such as public safety, traffic congestion reduction, infrastructure investment, and enhancing the quality of life for Fremont residents.

"As Fremont Mayor, Raj Salwan will work collaboratively with our city council to lead our city and get more things done for the benefit of Fremont residents," reads a statement from his campaign.

“ Career politicians tell you what you want to hear or tweet about it, but don’t follow through to make it happen. They avoid the hard work of policy making and collaboration to get things done. However, I will roll up my sleeves and dedicate myself to working hard for ALL Fremont residents,” Salwan said in a statement announcing his bid.
