The Asian Pacific American Institute for Congressional Studies (APAICS) has announced Rep. Thanedar as Honorary Co-Chair of the 2025 Legislative Leadership Summit which will be held on May 12 and 13 at the Royal Sonesta Washington, Capitol Hill, in Washington, DC. The Congressman will preside the meeting alongside Rep. Jill Tokuda.

Congressman Thanedar, who represents the people of Michigan’s 13th Congressional District, said he feels honored about co-chairing APAICS Legislative Leadership Summit during Asian American and Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander Heritage Month alongside Congresswoman Jill Tokuda.

In a statement, he said the theme “Woven Together, Strengthen in Community” reminds everyone that while their backgrounds and experience are diverse, it makes them stronger when they stand together.

“We are not a monolith and the challenges we face require unity, collaboration and a shared commitment to progress. As the fastest-growing ethnic population in the country, we must see ourselves reflected at every level of the government, from local councils to the halls of Congress. Our voices should not be the exception in these spaces. They should be the norm.”

Thanedar urged the community to be part of this movement that ensures their voices are heard and that their impact is felt.
