Indian American lawyer and politician Reshma Saujani is set to deliver the keynote address at Harvey Mudd College's 67th Commencement ceremony on May. 18.

Saujani, who has spent more than a decade advocating for women's economic empowerment and working to close the gender gap in the tech industry, founded Girls Who Code, a nonprofit organization aimed at increasing female and nonbinary representation in computer science, and Moms First, an initiative pushing for policies such as affordable childcare and paid family leave.

She is also a New York Times bestselling author, known for books such as PAY UP: The Future of Women and Work (And Why It’s Different Than You Think) and Brave, Not Perfect. Her TED talk, Teach Girls Bravery, Not Perfection, has been viewed over 54 million times.

Harvey Mudd senior class presidents Rohan Subramanian and Mikayla Mann welcomed the announcement. “At Mudd, we have always believed that excellence goes hand in hand with reducing disparity in STEM careers,” Subramanian said. “Reshma has championed these principles on the national level.”

Mann added, “As an officer and active member in the Society of Women Engineers at Mudd, I’m so excited we’re inviting a speaker who uplifts women in science and technology.”

Saujani holds degrees from the University of Illinois, Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government, and Yale Law School. She has been recognized on Fortune’s World’s Greatest Leaders list and Forbes’ Most Powerful Women Changing the World. She also serves on the Board of Overseers for Harvard University and the International Rescue Committee.

Harvey Mudd College has a history of bringing notable figures to speak at its commencement ceremonies. In previous years, speakers have included AI researcher Fei-Fei Li and mathematics educator Grant Sanderson.

The 2025 Commencement ceremony will be open to family and friends of graduates, with a livestream available for those unable to attend in person.
