Response to the first US Presidential debate between Biden and Trump
In this letter, Ajay Bhutoria, Deputy National Finance Chair, shared his thoughts in Atlanta after the CNN debate.
Yesterday, President Biden spoke positively about America's future, highlighting his vision where every American has a fair chance to achieve their dreams, fundamental rights are safeguarded, and democratic institutions are strengthened.
In contrast, Donald Trump painted a pessimistic picture of America under his potential return to the White House: a situation where women struggle for necessary healthcare, the interests of billionaires outweigh the needs of ordinary people, and uncertainty looms over the acceptance of the election results.
Trump's performance served as a reminder to voters why they chose to remove him from office four years ago, emphasizing the crucial importance of the upcoming November election for our country's direction.
Having a President dealing with a sore throat and cold is preferable for America than a self-centered convicted felon. To me, what matters is that Joe Biden clearly won the debate last night.
Let's reflect on Joe Biden's three and a half years as president. It's been impressive: creating 15.6 million jobs, eight times more than the last three Republican presidents combined; advancing gun safety laws and lowering prescription drug costs; and proposing an infrastructure plan to rebuild our country.
Joe Biden has delivered, and now it's our turn to support him. We're talking about the future of our democracy, our nation, and the world. They all need our attention right now.
