Response to the United States presidential elections 2024

This letter by Dinesh Sastry is written in response to the November elections to choose the next president of the country.

Vice President Kamala Harris is a family friend. She is the most likely person to be president of the United States after President Biden. I was on her finance committee when she ran for President in 2020.

I am currently on the Biden Victory Fund and was formerly a DSCC Trustee and DSCC Hi-Tech council Co-Chair when I allocated six figures to Senator Joe Biden, the Chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee in the Senate! He and Allen Hoffman, his Chief of Staff, invited me to have dinner at their table at a Senate banquet.

My dad, Durvasula Sastry, used to have dinner meetings with Kamala Harris’s parents Shyamala Gopalan and Donald Harris at the home of Prof. Kausaliya Hart’s and Prof. George Hart’s home several times in Berkeley, California! The Harts taught at the South Asian Studies Department at UC Berkeley.

I also studied EECS at UC Berkeley, but I also took several courses in Hindu “Mythology” and Hindi language in UC Berkeley South Asian studies department!

My father was the founder of the BATA, the Bay Area Telugu Association, (BATA) the Federation of Indo-American Associations (FIA), South India Fine Arts (SIFA), and most importantly the Shiva Vishnu Temple in Livermore, California! It’s called the Hindi Community & Cultural Center (HCCC).

VP Kamala Harris’ mother Shamayla was a regular visitor to the Shiva Vishnu temple in Livermore and brought both her daughters for poojas! Later VP Harris had chief priest Pandit Sridhar from Shiva Vishnu Temple over to her house a few times for Hindu poojas after her mom died of cancer and when she decided to run for Senate! When my dad passed away, she wrote a condolence letter as Senator from California!

Were she to become president, she would be the first female president, the first Asian president, the first Black female president, and the first Indian-American president!

From,
Dinesh Sastry
