Sikh American recognized by State of Connecticut
Deep Singh has been recognized for his dedication to teaching and promoting Gatka, a traditional Sikh martial art.

Deep Singh, a renowned Gatka Master, a traditional Sikh martial art expert, and an Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) professional, recently received a lifetime achievement award from U.S. President Biden. He was also honored by the Connecticut General Assembly for his contributions.
Swaranjit Singh Khalsa, a member of the Norwich City Council, congratulated Deep Singh on his achievement. He was joined by Senator Cathy Osten, Representative Derell Wilson, and Representative Kevin Ryan, who also sponsored the citation in honor of Singh's recognition.
The citation was also signed by President pro-Tempore Martin Looney, Speaker of the House Matt Ritter, and Secretary of the State Stephanie Thomas, further honoring Singh's achievement.
“Deep Singh’s Gatka Team continued participation in Connecticut at various events is definitely bring more positivity to State and helping State to combat youth violence issue.” said Kuljit Singh, director of Sikh Art Gallery, CT.
Deep Singh has been recognized for his dedication to teaching and promoting Gatka, a traditional Sikh martial art with significant cultural and historical value.
He supports young students in addressing bullying and imparts lessons on discipline, self-defense, and spirituality. In addition to his martial arts work, Singh is actively involved in community support through food and blood drives in the tristate area.
Singh expressed his commitment to advancing the educational journey of Gatka and extended his gratitude to the local Connecticut non-profit, Sikh Art Gallery, for its support of this crucial youth violence prevention and intervention program.
