Silicon Valley INDUS-X summit highlights US-India defense cooperation

The U.S. Department of Defense and India's Ministry of Defence strengthened their defense collaboration at the third India-U.S. Defense Acceleration Ecosystem (INDUS-X) Summit in Silicon Valley, California on Sept. 9, by signing an upgraded Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
The MoU, between the U.S. Defense Innovation Unit (DIU) and India’s Defense Innovation Organization (DIO), aims to expand military access to cutting-edge technologies through non-traditional processes.

The event, co-hosted by the U.S.-India Strategic Partnership Forum (USISPF) and Stanford University, aimed to enhance defense industrial cooperation between the two nations, focusing on technology and manufacturing innovation.
Keynote speakers, including U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Kurt Campbell and U.S. Space Command Commander General Stephen Whiting, highlighted the strategic importance of the U.S.-India defense relationship.
Condoleezza Rice, director of Stanford University’s Hoover Institute, added, “This is an enduring relationship that will remain a priority, regardless of political shifts.”
A new official INDUS-X webpage serving as a hub for investors and startups seeking opportunities in defense innovation was launched during the event. Additionally, INDUSWERX, a testing consortium, was introduced to provide defense and dual-use companies with testing opportunities across the U.S. and India.
The summit concluded with meetings of the Senior Advisory Group and Senior Leaders Forum, focusing on future cooperation.
