South Asian Impact invites applications for Desis Lead 2025 cohort
The initiative comes amid ongoing efforts to address the underrepresentation of South Asians in government at all levels.

Civic engagement non-profit, the South Asian Impact Foundation announced that applications are now open for the 2025 spring cohort of its Desis Lead mentoring program designed to prepare South Asian Americans for political leadership.
The 12-week program, beginning April 1, will feature a 10-session curriculum aimed at equipping participants with the necessary skills and networks to run for office. Sessions will take place virtually on Tuesday evenings and will include community-building discussions, policy training, and mentorship meetings with South Asian elected officials.
Since its launch in fall 2023, the Desis Lead program has trained four cohorts, with several alumni going on to launch political campaigns or assume public office, the nonprofit said.
Applications for the Spring 2025 cohort are open until Mar. 14, and selected participants will be notified by Mar. 21. The program has limited spots to maintain a small, focused group.
