Sripriya Ranganathan bids farewell to Indian Embassy in US

She reflected on her three years in the position as Deputy Chief of Mission, and highlighted her contributions to strengthening India-US ties.

Sripriya Ranganathan has completed her tenure as Deputy Chief of Mission at the Indian Embassy in the United States, marking the end of a significant chapter in India-U.S. diplomatic relations.

"As I conclude my tenure as Deputy Chief of Mission @IndianEmbassyUS, I’m grateful for the incredible journey I’ve been on, marked by steadily deepening friendship with my U.S. counterparts and the warm embrace of the Indian-American community," she wrote on X.
Ranganathan expressed her gratitude to her colleagues at the Indian Embassy in Washington, D.C., as well as consulates in New York, Chicago, Seattle, San Francisco, Houston, and Atlanta, acknowledging their role in making her tenure "enriching and fulfilling”.



Reflecting on her three years in the position, she highlighted her contributions to strengthening India-US ties across multiple sectors, including politics, trade, investment, technology, space, education, defense, culture, and people-to-people connections. "This is the partnership of the future!" she wrote.

A career diplomat, Ranganathan joined the Indian Foreign Service in 1994 after earning her master's degree in history from Delhi University. Before her posting in Washington, she served as India’s Ambassador to South Korea from 2018 to 2022. Her extensive diplomatic career includes stints in Myanmar, Turkey, and Hong Kong, as well as key roles in India’s Ministry of External Affairs and the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.
Fluent in Tamil, Hindi, and English, and with some knowledge of Turkish, Ranganathan has a keen interest in women’s leadership and empowerment.
