The Stamford Cricket Club Sizzlers, a spirited women's cricket team consisting of 20 dedicated members, hosted their second annual women's cricket tournament at Lione Park on June.22. The event drew a crowd of 250 attendees from Stamford, Greenwich, and Westchester, showcasing the growing popularity of women's cricket in the region.

The tournament, organized by SCC Sizzlers, featured seven competitive teams vying for victory, all while supporting a noble cause. This year, the event rallied behind The Women and Children's Fund of the Fairfield County Community Foundation (FCCF), marking a continued commitment to philanthropy. Previous tournaments have benefited organizations such as DVCC, The Food Bank of Lower Fairfield County, and the Wounded Warriors Project.

Founded by a group of dynamic South Asian women, including professionals and mothers who found camaraderie in cricket following the challenges of COVID-19, SCC Sizzlers aims to inspire and empower more women in the community through their shared love for the sport.

The Stamford team has received steadfast support from GOPIO-CT, with many team members actively involved in the organization's activities. Leading the charge are Captain Bindu Philip and Vice Captain Monika Mittal, guiding SCC Sizzlers towards success both on and off the pitch.

In this year's tournament, HCC Drakainas from Long Island and Phoenix of Westchester advanced to the finals, promising an exciting culmination to the competition in the weeks ahead.

Mary Grace from FCCF graced the event's felicitation ceremony, accepting a generous donation from SCC Sizzlers as a testament to their community spirit and dedication to making a meaningful impact beyond the cricket field.
