Northwell Health and the George Subraj Family Foundation have announced a transformative $1 million donation aimed at enhancing cardiac care in both Queens, New York and Guyana. This landmark initiative will fund advanced cardiology training, expand healthcare access in underserved communities such as Richmond Hill (commonly known as Little Guyana), and fuel cutting-edge cardiac research.
The initiative honors the legacy of George Subraj, a visionary philanthropist and successful entrepreneur who was deeply committed to improving healthcare access in Guyana and among Guyanese diaspora communities in the United States.
In an Instagram post, Northwell Health shared, "The Subraj Family Foundation has donated $1 MILLION to Northwell Health to advance cardiology care for the Guyanese community both in Guyana and in Little Guyana, Queens. This transformative gift honors George Subraj’s legacy and will support advanced training for cardiologists, innovative research, and expanded healthcare access."
This partnership reflects a shared commitment to advancing health equity and ensuring high-quality care reaches vulnerable and historically underserved populations. The gift also supports the continued work of Northwell Health’s Sandra Atlas Bass Heart Hospital and aims to deepen the impact of its global and community health outreach programs.
