The Dickson Citizen of the Year Award is part of the annual Dickson Community Awards, organized by Peter Dutton, leader of the opposition of Australia. The award highlights individuals who have made significant contributions to the community through volunteer work. This year, 16 individuals were honored for their efforts.

During the award ceremony, Dutton emphasized the importance of Australian citizenship and the role individuals like Dr. Roy play in shaping the nation's future.

"To be an Australian citizen is to win the lottery of life," Dutton stated. "As we celebrate the best country in the world, we do so respectfully—honoring our Indigenous culture, our British heritage, and the great migrant story."

In concluding remarks, Dutton also shared, "People who came here with not a dollar in their pocket and yet got an education or worked hard and educated their children, and now their subsequent generations are more Australian than anyone."
