Former UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, along with his wife Akshata Murty, daughters, and mother-in-law Sudha Murthy, who is also a Member of Parliament in Rajya Sabha, met Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Feb. 18 in New Delhi.
Calling Sunak, a “great friend of India,” Modi highlighted his passion for even stronger India-UK ties. Taking to social media to share the interaction, Modi wrote, “It was a delight to meet former UK PM, Rishi Sunak and his family! We had a wonderful conversation on many subjects.”

Earlier in the day, the Sunak family visited the Parliament House, where they were welcomed by Utpal Kumar Singh, Secretary General of the Lok Sabha, and P.C. Mody, Secretary General of the Rajya Sabha. The family toured the Parliament House Complex, taking in the architectural grandeur and visiting notable sites including the Galleries, Chambers, Constitution Hall, and Samvidhan Sadan.
Sunak aslo met Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman to explore opportunities for strengthening market-based financial ties and boosting economic growth.
The Ministry of Finance shared details of the meeting on social media, stating, “Union Minister for Finance and Corporate Affairs Nirmala Sitharaman met with Rishi Sunak, United Kingdom’s ex-PM and Member of Parliament, in New Delhi today.”

As part of his ongoing engagements in India, he also visited the Taj Mahal with his family on Feb 15.
