Sundar Pichai pays tribute to Ratan Tata following his passing
Pichai shares the memory of his last meeting with Ratan Tata at Google.

Ratan Naval Tata, the former chairperson of the Tata Group and recipient of the Padma Vibhushan, India’s second-highest civilian honor, passed away on Oct. 9 at Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital. He was 86 years old. Tata had been in critical condition and was under intensive care at the time of his death.
A titan of Indian industry, Tata was widely admired for his business acumen and philanthropy, shaping the Tata Group into one of India's largest and most respected leaders. His leadership extended beyond the business world, contributing significantly to India’s development.
Sundar Pichai, CEO of Alphabet, paid tribute to Tata on social media and expressed deep condolences to his loved ones; sharing his last memory of a meeting with him at Google's headquarters.
“In our last meeting, we discussed the progress of Waymo. His vision was inspiring to hear. He leaves an extraordinary business and philanthropic legacy and was instrumental in mentoring and developing modern business leadership in India. He deeply cared about making India better,” Pichai wrote.
