The University of Arizona College of Medicine – Tucson has named Indian American physician Sunita Mishra as the Alumni of the Year for 2024. She will be honored alongside other distinguished graduates at the Alumni of the Year Awards on Feb. 27 at the Student Union Memorial Center Grand Ballroom.
A graduate of the class of 1989 and 1994 at the university, Mishra has dedicated her career to transforming healthcare accessibility and innovation.
Currently serving as the chief medical officer for Amazon Health Services, she leads efforts to improve patient care through initiatives like Amazon Pharmacy, Amazon Clinic, and One Medical, ensuring affordable and high-quality healthcare solutions.
With over two decades of experience as a primary care physician in the U.S. and Singapore, Mishra has developed sustainable care models that enhance both patient and clinician experiences. Before joining Amazon, she led the medical group for Amazon Care and held key leadership positions at Providence, including vice president of consumer innovation and chief executive of express care.
Mishra earned her bachelor’s and medical degrees from the University of Arizona, completed her clinical training at the University of Washington, and obtained an MBA from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
