Sunita Williams celebrates Thanksgiving in space
Williams conveyed greetings, “Our crew up here just wanted to say Happy Thanksgiving to all our friends and family who are down on Earth and everyone who is supporting us.”

Indian-American NASA astronaut Sunita Williams celebrated Thanksgiving aboard the International Space Station (ISS), marking the occasion with her fellow astronauts Butch Wilmore, Nick Hague, and Aleksandr Gorbunov.
In a video message shared by NASA, Williams conveyed greetings, “Our crew up here just wanted to say Happy Thanksgiving to all our friends and family who are down on Earth and everyone who is supporting us.”

The astronauts enjoyed a festive meal featuring smoked turkey, mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce, green beans with mushrooms, apple cobbler, butternut squash, and apples. They also watched highlights of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade as part of their celebration.
Williams, who arrived at the ISS in June with Wilmore aboard Boeing’s Starliner spacecraft, has now spent eight months in orbit due to technical issues that rendered the spacecraft unfit for human travel. She is expected to return to Earth in February 2025 aboard a SpaceX Dragon capsule.
Amid concerns about the extended mission, NASA assured the crew’s safety, with Williams sharing that she is “feeling good, working out, and eating right,” despite some weight loss.
With 322 cumulative days in space, Williams holds the distinction of being the second woman astronaut with the highest number of spacewalks. She also celebrated Diwali earlier this month, sharing the festival of lights from 260 miles above Earth.
