‘Superboys of Malegaon’ to release in theatres worldwide on Feb 28

Superboys of Malegaon, a film based on the life of Malegaon-based amateur filmmaker Nasir Shaikh, is set to release in theatres on Feb. 28. The film will be screened in India, the US, the UK, the UAE, Australia, and New Zealand.

Superboys of Malegaon tells the story of Shaikh and his friends, who attempt to create a film in their small town. Against the backdrop of economic hardships, the project becomes a collective effort, with the group’s passion for cinema bringing the community together. 
 

The story explores themes of friendship, perseverance, and the impact of storytelling in challenging circumstances. Directed by Reema Kagti and written by Varun Grover, the film stars Adarsh Gourav, Vineet Kumar Singh, Shashank Arora, and Anuj Singh Duhan in lead roles.

The film has been well-received internationally, having premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) and been screened at events such as the BFI London Film Festival and the Red Sea International Film Festival.

Excel Entertainment, known for productions such as Dil Chahta Hai and Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, collaborated with Tiger Baby, the studio behind projects like Made in Heaven and The Archies for the film. Both production houses have focused on bringing diverse stories to audiences, with Superboys of Malegaon marking their latest collaboration.

Following its theatrical run, the film will also be made available on Prime Video, catering to a global streaming audience.
