Tamil Nadu CM M.K. Stalin secures investment from Trilliant, Nike in Chicago
Stalin signed MoUs with several companies across the US to boost job opportunities and technology in the state of Tamil Nadu.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin who is currently in Chicago on the second leg of his investment trip to the United States secured investment from leading firms across various sectors on Sept. 4.
He signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Trilliant Networks for a INR 2000 crore (approx US$240 million) investment to establish a Development and Global Support Centre and a production facility in Tamil Nadu.
Trilliant Networks, a North Carolina-based company specializing in smart grid, smart city, and industrial IoT solutions, aims to boost Tamil Nadu’s infrastructure and industrial landscape. The new facilities are expected to create numerous job opportunities and support energy efficiency, reliability, and renewable energy integration in the state.
The MoU was signed by Trilliant’s chief commercial officer, Mike Mortimer, in the presence of CM Stalin and senior government officials.

Chief Minister Stalin also held discussions with senior executives from Nike and Optum, encouraging further business investments in Tamil Nadu. Nike, a global leader in sports footwear and apparel manufacturing, expressed interest in expanding its non-leather footwear production in the state, while Optum, a subsidiary of UnitedHealth Group, explored opportunities in healthcare services and workforce development.
This agreement is part of Stalin's broader mission to attract international investments and spur economic growth in Tamil Nadu. In San Francisco, agreements were signed with Nokia, PayPal, Yield Engineering Systems, Microchip Technology, Infinx Healthcare, and Applied Materials, totaling an investment of $108 million. These agreements are expected to create 4,100 job opportunities, with the focus on boosting the state’s tech and industrial capabilities.
In addition to these MoUs, the Chief Minister met with representatives from tech giants Apple, Google, and Microsoft. A landmark agreement was signed with Google to establish AI research labs in collaboration with the state’s “Naan Mudhalvan” skill development initiative, further enhancing Tamil Nadu's position as a technology hub.
