Texas House recognizes March 25 as Desi Day of Action

House Resolution 602 formally designates March 25 as Desi Day of Action, an annual observance celebrating South Asian Texans and their contributions to the state's economy, culture, and civic life.

The Texas House of Representatives has officially recognized Mar.25 as Desi Day of Action at the State Capitol, following the adoption of House Resolution 602 (HR 602) on Mar.25, 2025. The resolution acknowledges the growing influence of South Asian Texans and provides a platform for advocacy on issues important to the community.

The initiative, led by State Representative Suleman Lalani (District 76), was introduced in the Texas House on Mar.19, 2025, and swiftly moved through the legislative process. It was referred to the Local & Consent Calendars Committee on Mar.21, and on Mar.25, the House suspended rules, adopted the resolution, and reported it as enrolled.
