Harvard alumni will soon have the opportunity to vote in the upcoming elections for the Harvard board of overseers and the Harvard Alumni Association (HAA) elected directors, with two Indian-origin alumni among the nominees.

Anjali Sud, CEO of Tubi and former CEO of Vimeo, has been nominated for the board of overseers, while Sanjay Seth, historian and professor at Goldsmiths, University of London, has been named among candidates for the HAA elected directors.

Voting begins on Apr.1, with ballots accepted until 5 p.m. on May.20. Alumni can vote online or via paper ballot to fill five vacancies on the board of overseers and six positions on the HAA elected directors' board. Eligible voters include all Harvard degree holders as of Jan.1, 2025, except for certain University officers and members of the Harvard Corporation for the overseer positions.

Anjali Sud, born in Detroit to Punjabi Hindu immigrant parents from India, grew up in Flint, Michigan. A graduate of Harvard Business School (MBA, 2011) and the University of Pennsylvania (B.Sc. in Finance and Management, 2005), she has built a distinguished career in media and technology. Currently the CEO of Tubi, Sud was previously the CEO of Vimeo, where she took the company public in 2021. She also serves on the boards of Dolby Laboratories and Change.org.

Sanjay Seth is a historian and professor at Goldsmiths, University of London, where he also directs the Centre for Postcolonial Studies. After completing his education in Sydney and Canberra, he held academic positions at Sydney University and La Trobe University (Melbourne) and was a Fellow at Tokyo University. He has been at Goldsmiths since 2007.

The board of overseers, established in 1642, is one of Harvard’s two governing bodies. It plays a crucial role in the University’s governance, overseeing academic programs and strategic initiatives while advising leadership. Overseers also have the power of consent over key decisions, such as electing members of Harvard’s Corporation.

The HAA board, on the other hand, focuses on fostering alumni engagement, leadership development, and strengthening the Harvard alumni community worldwide.

The nomination process was overseen by a 13-member committee appointed by HAA’s volunteer leadership. The committee considered candidates’ expertise, leadership skills, and contributions to higher education in selecting the nominees.

With voting set to commence in April, the elections will shape the leadership and governance of Harvard University, reflecting its diverse and global alumni network.
