UAE allows visa-on-arrival for Indian nationals
The decision is expected to streamline travel for Indian citizens, providing them and their families with new opportunities for tourism, residency, and employment in the UAE

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has expanded its visa-on-arrival programme for Indian nationals, allowing more travellers to benefit from the facility. Under the latest order, Indian passport holders with valid visas, residence permits, or Green Cards from six additional countries—Singapore, Japan, South Korea, Australia, New Zealand, and Canada—will now be eligible for visa-on-arrival access at UAE entry points.
Previously, this privilege was available only to Indian travellers holding valid documentation from the United States, European Union member states, and the United Kingdom.
The decision is expected to streamline travel for Indian citizens, providing them and their families with new opportunities for tourism, residency, and employment in the UAE, according to Gulf News.
Eligibility criteria
To qualify for the visa-on-arrival programme, Indian nationals must meet UAE’s immigration criteria, including:
- Holding a valid ordinary passport with at least six months’ validity from the date of arrival.
- Possessing a valid visa, residence permit, or Green Card from any of the eligible countries.
Travellers meeting these requirements will be required to pay the visa fee upon arrival at UAE immigration checkpoints.
Visa categories and fees
The UAE has introduced three categories for eligible Indian travellers, with nominal visa fees:
- 4-day visa: $27 (Dh100)
- 14-day extension: $68 (Dh250)
- 60-day visa: $68 (Dh250)
The move is part of the UAE’s broader strategy to enhance travel and economic ties with India, one of its largest trading partners and a key source of tourism.
