UCLA Health, a public healthcare system affiliated with the University of California, Los Angeles has launched a specialized program aimed at addressing the disproportionately high rates of heart disease among South Asian Americans. Led by Indian-origin cardiologist Dr. Ravi Dave, the initiative is the only one of its kind in Southern California, providing tailored heart health services for individuals of South Asian descent.
Studies indicate that South Asian Americans are three to four times more likely to develop heart disease than white Americans and other ethnic groups, often experiencing cardiac issues at a younger age.
