The University of Houston (UH) has announced a partnership with the Delhi Technological University (DTU) in India to expand global research and internship opportunities for students and faculty.
The five-year agreement, signed last week, aims to foster educational collaboration through research exchanges, academic partnerships and paid internships.

UH senior vice president for academic affairs and provost Diane Z. Chase, UH Cullen College of Engineering dean Pradeep Sharma, DTU vice chancellor Prateek Sharma and DTU dean of international affairs Pravir Kumar formally signed the MoU. Also present were UH president Renu Khator, UH system regent Durga Agrawal and DTU representatives.
“This partnership is a win-win opportunity for both universities and the communities they serve. I look forward to a long, prosperous relationship with one of India’s most reputable academies,” Chase said.
The collaboration will enable the exchange of visiting scholars and the sharing of scholarly work, including research papers, books and thesis. Students from both universities will also have access to paid internships and cooperative education placements.
“This MOU will allow us to dramatically increase the number of our Master’s program students,” said Pradeep Sharma. “Many of these students may also stay longer to do their Ph.D.”
DTU has previously established international partnerships with Illinois Institute of Technology, La Trobe University and Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics.
The agreement is part of UH’s broader efforts to strengthen academic ties with Indian institutions. Previous collaborations include partnerships with the Indian Council for Cultural Relations and the Indian Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas. The UH-Delhi Technological University partnership is set for renewal in 2030.
