Since joining UIUC in 2016, Mehta has mentored over 20 undergraduate students, guiding them through rigorous research projects that have led to peer-reviewed publications and real-world applications.
Mehta’s research bridges theoretical computer science with economics and game theory, focusing on equilibrium computation, fair division, and algorithmic market design. Her interdisciplinary approach extends to areas like genetic evolution and machine learning, providing rich opportunities for student collaboration.
Beyond research, she has developed and taught courses such as CS 580: Topics in Algorithmic Game Theory and serves as an associate editor for Mathematics of Operations Research.
In addition to her scholarly contributions, Mehta founded the EC (AGT) Mentoring Workshop and continues to foster academic growth through community engagement and leadership in the computational economics domain.
A recipient of the ACM India Doctoral Dissertation Award in 2012, Mehta holds a Ph.D. from IIT Bombay. She completed postdoctoral work at Georgia Tech and the Simons Institute at UC Berkeley before joining UIUC.
