University of Oklahoma names Nishanth Rodrigues as CIO

Rodrigues will begin his role at OU at the end of September, focusing on improving the institution’s IT systems and support services.

The University of Oklahoma has named Indian-American strategist Nishanth Rodrigues as its new chief information officer (CIO), effective Sept. 30. 

In his new role, Rodrigues, who previously served as CIO at the University of Mississippi, is expected to oversee the university’s information technology strategies, aiming to strengthen the university’s technological infrastructure and digital innovation. 

Rodrigues brings two decades of experience in strategic IT leadership, including roles in healthcare and higher education. At the University of Mississippi he led significant IT projects, including the construction of a new data center to enhance research capabilities and academic services. 

Prior to that, Rodrigues was the assistant vice president and chief technology officer at Michigan State University from 2015 to 2017. His professional affiliations include membership in the Cisco Higher Education Advisory Council, the Satisfactory Academic Progress Higher Education Research Advisory Council, and the CIO Visions Steering Committee.

Rodrigues holds a Ph.D. in Education from the University of Mississippi and a Master of Business Administration from Michigan State University. He also earned a Bachelor of Applied Science from Davenport University.
