US Secretary of State Marco Rubio extended his congratulations to the people of India on the eve of their Republic Day, emphasizing the enduring significance of India's Constitution as the foundation of the world’s largest democracy.
In a press statement, Rubio highlighted the deepening ties between the two nations, calling the US-India partnership "a defining relationship of the 21st century." He noted that the friendship between the two countries serves as the bedrock of their cooperation, especially in economic relations.
"We look forward to deepening our cooperation in the year ahead, including by advancing our joint efforts in space research and coordination within the Quad to promote a free, open, and prosperous Indo-Pacific region," Rubio stated.
India’s Republic Day celebrations on Jan.26 will be led by President Droupadi Murmu, with Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto attending as the Chief Guest.
Earlier this week, Secretary Rubio marked his first day in office by hosting the Foreign Ministers of the Quad alliance—India, Australia, and Japan—at the US Department of State. The meeting focused on enhancing economic opportunities and ensuring peace and security in the Indo-Pacific region. Rubio met with India's External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, Japan’s Takeshi Iwaya, and Australia’s Penny Wong.
Following the Quad meeting, Rubio held bilateral discussions with Jaishankar in Washington, DC. According to an official press release, the two leaders reaffirmed their shared commitment to strengthening the US-India partnership and discussed various regional issues and opportunities for further collaboration.
The US-India partnership continues to expand across multiple sectors, with both countries prioritizing cooperation in defense, technology, and economic growth.
