Several Hindu American advocacy groups are joining forces to organize protests in support of Hindus in Bangladesh, following reports of attacks on Hindu homes and businesses, including vandalism and looting, amid widespread unrest and human rights concerns in the country.

Advocacy group Hindi ACTion are planning a protest at the White House on Aug. 10. The demonstration will call for immediate protection and safety for Hindus and other religious minorities in Bangladesh.

Another protest in solidarity with Hindus in Bangladesh led by the same organization will take place in Frisco City Hall in Texas on Aug. 10. The protest is supported by Global Hindus, Global Hindu Heritage Foundation and Global Hindu Temple Network.

A separate protest rally, organized by the United Hindus of USA, is scheduled for Aug. 9 in front of the UN building in New York. The event will urge the Bangladeshi government to protect religious minorities, including Hindus, Buddhists, and Christians.

The Coalition of Hindus of North America (CoHNA), a grassroots Hindu advocacy group, is organizing a congressional briefing with support from diaspora organizations on August 12.

Congressman Richard McCormick (R-GA) will be present at the briefing, where experts and American Hindus with family in Bangladesh will discuss the severe situation on the ground and the urgent need for action.

Additionally, protests will be held globally in London, UK on Aug. 9 and 10 at the UK Parliament and Westminster Parliament. Protests in Toronto, Canada will take place at OCAD and Nathan Philips Square on Aug. 9 and 10.

Following the overthrow of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, hundreds of Bangladeshi Hindus have attempted to flee to India this week, but their efforts have been largely unsuccessful due to widespread vandalism targeting their homes and businesses.

According to the Bangladesh Hindu Buddhist Christian Unity Council, 45 out of 64 districts in the country have witnessed attacks primarily targeting Hindu homes, businesses, and temples this week. The violence has resulted in the death of a school teacher and injuries to 45 other individuals.
